The skin barrier is the outermost layer of the skin, responsible for protecting it and preventing moisture loss. One of the key components of this barrier is the lamellar structure. Much like a wall made of bricks and cement, the lamellar structure is formed by corneocytes (the "bricks") tightly packed together, with ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids (the "cement") filling the spaces in between to create a strong and resilient barrier.

One of the key ingredients in Glyco-Veil is MEL (Glycolipid) — a skin-friendly component with a structure similar to that found in the human body. It helps maintain the stability of cell membranes and forms a protective "veil" on the skin’s surface. This veil mimics the lamellar structure of the skin barrier, making it more resilient and robust. In addition, Glyco-Veil offers excellent skin penetration and barrier-reinforcing effects. Its efficacy in strengthening the skin barrier has been demonstrated through Nile Red staining, a technique used to visualize intercellular lipids.
